A safe and welcoming space:
UNE International, StudyNSW and Bupa are excited to launch their joint Project the ‘Northern Tablelands International Community Partnership Project’ aka ‘The International Hub’.
As one of 5 partnership projects to receive funding from StudyNSW in 2016 this project seeks to involve international students and their families with the local community through a strong focus on the health and wellbeing of new arrivals to the region.
The International Hub introduces students and their families to local services and develop opportunities for engagement with the local community. The Hub opened on Saturday 29th October 2016 at 115 Beardy Street Armidale.
This project facilitates various activities aimed at bringing benefits to students and their families to help them adjust to life in Armidale and Australia. It offer's opportunities to learn about the Australian way of life, laws and culture by encouraging engagement in programs that explore and support life in a regional community.
The project offers the New England international community:
Free weekly English language classes
An international ladies group bringing together women and Australian volunteers for Conversational English classes
A Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)
National Day events providing information on different cultures, through exhibitions of traditional customs, dress and food
An International women’s gym, swimming lessons and sporting activities
Free driving lessons
An improved international student information app and website
Family assistance to support parents and students in local schools
